Gottlieb Gabriel Weickhmann

Gottlieb Gabriel Weickhmann (born April 21, 1708 in Danzig , Polish-Prussia ; † August 12, 1776 ibid) was mayor of Danzig.

Life

The father Joachim Weickhmann was senior in the ministry of clergy (first pastor) in Danzig, the mother Anna Elisabeth a daughter of the Magdeburg state lawyer Johann August Böckmann. The brother Joachim Samuel became provost and university rector in Wittenberg .

Gottlieb Gabriel Weickhmann attended the Academic High School in Danzig since 1727 and studied law, theology and history in Wittenberg since 1729.

In 1733 he became town clerk (head of the chancellery) in Danzig. In 1754 he became Schöppe and in 1756 a councilor. Since 1757 Gottlieb Gabriel Weickhmann was a member of the city's delegations in several countries during the Seven Years' War (1756–1763). In 1759 he became a member of the city's three-man war council.

From 1762 Weickhmann was one of the four mayors in Danzig, which he remained until his death. In 1763 he was first mayor (president), then three times. From 1765 he was also three times royal burgrave in the city.

Gottlieb Gabriel Weickhmann was an educated man who spoke several languages. He was married twice and had several children.
