Joachim Weickhmann
Joachim Weickhmann (born September 29, 1662 in Danzig , Polish-Prussia , † March 15, 1736 ) was a Lutheran theologian. He was court preacher in Zerbst and senior at the Ministry of Spirituality in Danzig.
Life
The father Johann Leonhard Weickhmann (1630–1688) was a merchant from Leipzig who had emigrated to Danzig, the mother Catharina Ravensburg (1631–1711) a merchant's daughter. Joachim Weickhmann attended grammar school in Danzig and studied Protestant theology in Leipzig from 1684, and in Wittenberg from 1685 . In 1685 he acquired the degree of a master's degree and since then has lectured at the Philosophical Faculty in Wittenberg as a private lecturer.
In 1691 Weickhmann became pastor in the nearby Schmiedeberg , and since the following year he has held the title of licentiate in theology. In 1693 he was appointed provost in Kemberg , but did not take up the position, nor did an offer at the Johanniskirche in Magdeburg . Instead, Weickhmann became court preacher and superintendent in Zerbst in 1694, pastor at the Bartholomäikirche and thus the highest-ranking evangelical clergyman in the Principality of Anhalt-Zerbst . In that year he was also appointed doctor of theology in Wittenberg.
From 1705 Joachim Weickhmann was senior of the Ministry of Spirituality (first pastor) in Danzig and pastor at the Marienkirche . In 1708 he turned down an offer to serve as court preacher in Dresden and remained in office until his death in 1736.
Joachim Weickhmann published some theological writings and sermons, including a hymn. He did not write lyrics to songs himself.
Joachim Weickhmann was married to Anna Elisabeth Boeckmann, a daughter of Magdeburg State Syndic August Boeckmamn, since 1701. They had eight children, three of whom died early.
