Andreas Gottfried Schmidt

Andreas Gottfried Schmidt (born August 8, 1794 in Thurau , Principality of Anhalt-Köthen ; † 1851 ) was a Reformed pastor in Anhalt-Köthen and the author of literary encyclopedias.

Life

Andreas Gottfried Schmidt first went to school with his father, the teacher Johann Andreas Schmidt. From 1809 he attended the secondary school of the orphanage in Halle . From 1815 to 1817 he studied theology at the University of Halle . During and afterwards he worked as a teacher.

In 1820 Schmidt became a preacher in Diebzig . From 1824 he was pastor at the reformed town church St. Johannis in Nienburg and from 1829 in Prosigk .

From 1849 to 1851 he was possibly the deputy of the member of Nienburg for the second unified state parliament of Anhalt-Dessau and Anhalt-Köthen .

  1. ^ State and address calendar 1851 Anhalt-Dessau and Köthen p. 49 names a pastor Schmidt for Nienburg. Andreas Gottfried Schmidt had been in Prosigk since 1829, but it is not known whether he came back to Nienburg afterwards. Another person with this name would be possible, possibly a son
