Gottlob Eberhard Hafner , later von Hafner , (born June 23 or 25, 1785 in Aichelberg , † September 29, 1858 in Esslingen am Neckar ) was a German Protestant theologian.

Gottlob Eberhard Hafner was the son of pastor Eberhard Friedrich Hafner (1745–1807) and Charlotte Katharina Biberstein. In 1807 he married Luise Elisabethe Katherine Emendörfer (1785-1823), with her he had three children. In his second marriage in 1823, he married Charlotte Friederike Malblanc, daughter of Julius Friedrich von Malblanc , senior tribunal councilor and professor in Tübingen.

Hafner grew up in Horrheim . He studied Protestant theology at the University of Tübingen , and in 1804 received the academic degree of Magister in Protestant Theology. In 1806 he became a preceptor in Altensteig , in 1811 pastor in Neuenhaus , from 1817 to 1823 he was pastor in Steinenbronn , and since 1819 also director of the school conference for the diocese of Stuttgart. In 1823 he became dean in Münsingen and from 1828 to 1844 he was dean in Knittlingen . In 1841 he was appointed a member of the "Hymnal Commission". From 1844 to 1852 he was the prelate and general superintendent of Heilbronn . In 1852 he retired.

The general superintendents of the Evangelical Church were officially privileged members of the second chamber of the Württemberg state parliament . That is why Gottlob Eberhard von Hafner joined the state parliament in 1845 after his appointment in Heilbronn. He held the office until 1849. In 1848 he was a member of the pre-parliament .

Award

Hafner was the Knight's Cross of the Order of the Württemberg Crown granted that with the personal title of nobility ( ennoblement ) was associated.
