Gottschalk Timmermann
Gottschalk Timmermann (* in Riga ; † February 7, 1570 in Lübeck ) was a merchant and Lübeck councilor.
Life
The merchant Gottschalk Timmermann, who immigrated to Lübeck from Riga, was elected to the Lübeck council in 1559 . In 1561 he was together with the council syndicus Johann Rudel the city's envoy at the coronation of King Erik XIV of Sweden. In the following year 1562 he was in a Lübeck embassy together with the councilor Johann Kerkring and a council secretary again with Erik XIV. To have the Lübeck trade privileges in Sweden confirmed. The Lübeck chronicler Reimar Kock described the outcome of this diplomatic mission, which was disastrous for Lübeck and his ambassadors . In 1563, the year the Three Crowns War broke out , Timmermann was Lübeck's ambassador in Antwerp , where he concluded the contract for the relocation of the Bruges Hanseatic Office to Antwerp and the establishment thereof there. He represented the city at the Hanseatic Days in Lübeck in 1564 and 1566.
Timmermann's first marriage was to a daughter of Lübeck councilor Hinrich Kerckring ; second marriage to a daughter of councilor Lambert von Dalen . He lived in the house at Königstrasse 35 in Lübeck.
