Goustan
St. Goustan (* 974 in Cornouaille ; † around 1040 in Beauvoir-sur-Mer ) was a Breton saint. January 27th and November 27th are given differently as his name day . He is consistently described as a converted pirate . Three parish churches by the water were previously dedicated to him: in Le Croisic , in St. Gildas de Rhuys and in St. Goustan near Auray . His stone sarcophagus is in St. Gildas de Rhuys .
In the Auray district of Plunéret , the St. Goustan 's fountain , which had meanwhile been concreted over, served as a marriage oracle: “In the St Goustan's fountain, the needle had to float out of the breast cloth close to the heart to ensure safe marriage prospects.” There was also a miracle fountain in Le Croisic, which has since disappeared .
