The Iron Age burial ground of Amlasch is located in Iran , in the province of Gilan , in the mountains south of the Caspian Sea . The grave goods from the late 2nd millennium BC Chr. Consisted of tall gold and silver vessels, jewelry , weapons and figurines. The zoomorphic clay vessels of the rhytone type are libation vessels . One of the important finds recovered in Amlasch is a rhyton in the shape of a bull. The genus of cattle cannot be identified, it may be a representation of a zebu . The shapes are evidence of a little-explored culture that has connections with both steppe art in the north and with that of Luristan in the south.
The finds were recovered from robbery graves and brought to the antique market together with forgeries. Systematic excavations of a similar burial ground carried out at the neighboring Marlik Tepe site made it possible to date and classify the finds.
