Grégory Doucet

Grégory Doucet (born August 22, 1973 in Paris ) is a French politician and member of Europe Écologie-Les Verts . He was elected Mayor of Lyon in the 2020 French local elections in Lyon .

Life

Grégory Doucet has been involved in human rights and humanitarian aid for most of his professional life . He moved to Lyon in 2009 and worked for the non-governmental organization Handicap International , first as a project manager and then as geographical director for the West Africa region . He has worked with environmentalists since 2007, but it took ten years for his political ambitions to strengthen.

He was a candidate on the list of environmentalists for the French local elections in 2014 for mayor of the 8th arrondissement of Lyon , then on the list for the European elections in France in 2019 . At the same time he is one of the organizers of the “Lyon Climate Walks”. He was named chairman of the list of environmentalists for the 2020 local elections, which were decided in the second round of voting on June 28, 2020. In accordance with the electoral law, he is elected Mayor of Lyon at the first session of the City Council.
