The Grünes Herz publishing house (spelling: green heart ) is the largest publishing house in Thuringia specializing in maps and tourism literature and has its headquarters in Ilmenau ( Oberpörlitz district ). Since 1999 there has been a branch in the Baltic Sea resort of Wustrow ( Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania ).

The publishing house was founded in 1991 by Lutz Gebhardt as a one-man business. The publishing house has had its own stand at the Leipzig Book Fair every year since 1992 . In 1996 the company moved into its own publishing house in the Oberpörlitz district of Ilmenau, which was expanded with an extension in 2001. The logistics center across the street was opened in 2011. All products of the green heart publishing group (including the green heart publishing house as well as the Rhino publishing house , Demmler publishing house and BuchVerlag für die Frau ) are delivered from there.

In 2013 the publishing group was restructured. Since then, the publisher has operated in the legal form of a GmbH & Co. KG , and Gebhardt's sons have also joined the company.

Products

The largest part of the range is made up of detailed maps ( scale 1: 30,000 and 1: 35,000) and bicycle maps (scale 1: 75,000). Some of the map series are printed on a single-origin PP plastic material, which makes the maps waterproof and tear-resistant. This enabled the publisher to successfully occupy a niche in the German map market.

In addition, travel guides, hiking guides and cycle paths are published.
