Lutz Gebhardt

Lutz Gebhardt (born March 18, 1952 in Weimar ) is a German publisher .

After completing an electrical engineering apprenticeship , he completed his secondary education and then studied electrical engineering at the Technical University of Ilmenau , where he later received his doctorate. In 1992 he founded the map and tourism literature publisher , green heart , which has now become the largest manufacturer in the tourism segment in the Free State of Thuringia . Furthermore, Gebhardt is managing director of Demmler Verlag (since 2002), RhinoVerlag (since 2005) and BuchVerlag für die Frau (since 2015). With Rhino Verlag , he took over the remainder of the Escher Verlag from Gehren, which was then in liquidation, in 2006 .

As early as the GDR era, Gebhardt, often equipped with test bikes from VEB MIFA , traveled to the former Soviet Socialist Republics of Tajikistan , Uzbekistan , Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan , which took him to the Pamir and Tianshan . He has remained true to this hobby today and with the freedom he gained after the fall of the Wall, he was able to travel to all continents by bike. Gebhardt is also the (co-) author of numerous bicycle travel guides and illustrated books, including the legendary "DDR Travel Guide" by Moby Dick . Gebhardt has four grown children and lives in Ilmenau .
