from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The grave of Minister Zhao in Taiyuan ( Chinese  太原 赵 卿 墓 , Pinyin Taiyuan Zhao qing mu , English The Taiyuan Tomb of Minister Zhao of the State of Jin ) is very likely the tomb of State Minister Zhao Jianzi ( 趙簡 子  /  赵简 子 , that is Zhao Yang 趙鞅  /  赵鞅 ; approx. 540–474 BC) from the state of Jin during the spring and autumn period . It was excavated in 1988 near the old city of Jinyang or in the southern outskirts of Taiyuan , the capital of today's Shanxi Province .

The grave is completely intact and has not been looted. It contained a large amount of artifacts - according to the Archaeological Research Institute of the Shanxi Provincial Museum, 3421 funerary objects, 1402 of which are bronze objects - which are of great historical, artistic and scientific value. The finds are kept in the Taiyuan Museum in Taiyuan.

Particularly noteworthy is the large number of chariots that have now been restored . According to the experts, sixteen chariots and 46 horse corpses were discovered in the tomb.

The restoration of the relics only began in mid-2002 and was completed after three and a half years.
