Wolfgang Senff

Wolfgang Senff (born May 18, 1941 in Göttingen ) is a German economist , educator and politician ( SPD ).

Life

After attending schools in Minden and Gelsenkirchen , as well as graduating from high school in Kassel , Senff began studying economics at the Georg-August University in Göttingen , which he completed in 1971 with the examination for a degree in economics. He then entered the school service as a teacher. Since 1972 he has worked as a teacher at a vocational school in Hann. Münden . Senff has been a member of the SPD since 1971. He was an economic expert for the party and later acted as the state manager of the Social Democrats of Lower Saxony . Senff was appointed to the city council of Hann in 1973. Münden, where he was chairman of the SPD parliamentary group. He was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament from 1978 to 2003.

Senff held office from December 15, 1999 to March 4, 2003 as Minister for Federal and European Affairs in the government of the State of Lower Saxony led by Prime Minister Sigmar Gabriel . In this function he was chairman of the European ministers' conference of the federal states until June 2002.
