Grave monument of the Erer family

The grave monument of the Erer family (also Erersches votive picture ) forms the remainder of a tomb of the Heilbronn patrician family Erer and is exhibited in the Heilbronn House of City History .

The relief stone was created in the 15th century and originally comes from the Heilbronn Carmelite monastery , where the Erer family had their family funeral. Before 1904 the stone was built into the wall of the old cemetery in Heilbronn . The relief shows the Erersche coat of arms on the left with half a bear in the shield. On the right, a middle-aged man kneels with his hands raised in prayer in front of a crowned figure of Mary, who herself has the blessing baby Jesus on her lap. The figure of Mary is flanked by two angels holding a widely spread cloak. The Erer (also Ayrer , Eyerer and Eygerer ) were a powerful patrician family from Heilbronn, who provided the imperial fiefdoms and mayors in Heilbronn for several generations. Hans Erer the Elder († 1428) was Mayor of Heilbronn several times from 1389 to 1399. His descendant Conrad Erer († 1539) was the last Old Believer mayor of the imperial city and is depicted as the donor on the St. Vitus altar of St. Vitus Church.

Since there are no inscriptions on the stone, the tomb cannot be assigned to a specific person.
