The tomb mosque Aslam as-Silahdars is a mosque in Cairo , which is not far from the Ayyubid city wall at Bab al-Mahruq (a city gate) and was completed in 1345, at the time of the Bahri - Mamluks . The client, Emir Aslam al-Baha'i as-Silahdar ( DMG Aṣlam al-Bahāʾī as-Silaḥdār ; d. 1346), served, among other things, Sultan an-Nasir Muhammad as sword bearer and governor of Gaza .
The restored funerary mosque has two facades, a western and a southern one. The latter is the main facade and borders a small square where the emir's house once stood. Both facades bear inscriptions that give information about the time of construction, among other things. Accordingly, construction began in September / October 1344 and was completed in July 1345. In addition to a table composed of red, white and black marble on the main facade, the portal to the mausoleum , which was probably built in front of the mosque and is crowned by a ribbed dome, is particularly richly decorated .
The interior of the mosque is laid out in the shape of a cross, in the middle there is a hall with a wooden ceiling. The walls of this hall are richly decorated with stucco and there are Iwane on all four sides . The mausoleum, the minaret of the mosque, was added later.
