Band history

The band was founded in 1994 by Erhan Yilmazlar, Jürgen Hauser and Alexander Hüther, who already played together on various previous projects. After a long and unsuccessful search, suitable front men were found in the two singers Oliver Herrmann and Stefan Born. With this line-up, the band toured Germany - primarily through Rhineland-Palatinate . There were also some appearances in Austria. Since 1997 the band has released their CDs on the independent label "DUST Records" in Offenburg. In the first five years GRABOWSKY produced three albums and two maxi CDs.

The title “ Straw Hat Festival ” was composed as an anthem for the Frankenthal street festival of the same name and premiered for the first time in 2001 with great media success. Since then it has been an integral part of the festival.

In 2001 Stefan Born left the band and was replaced by Willi Brausch. With this line-up, three albums, including a live double album, were released. After Willi Brausch left in December 2007, Chris Gass joined the band as the new singer.

In 2002 the audience set a new world record during a concert in Frankenthal / Palatinate. Longest applause after a concert that was recognized by the Guinness Book of Records in 2006 .

For the 20th anniversary in 2014, the band released a best-of CD entitled “So far, so good”.

concept

The band consists of a trio of drums, bass and guitar and two singers. The idiosyncratic stage performance in connection with polyphonic choral singing is characteristic. The basic concept of the band is to use your own compositions and texts in German. Alexander Hüther is primarily responsible for this. The mostly ironic / satirical texts are the real trademark of the band, the spectrum of which goes beyond the classic topics such as relationships and their problems and also includes peculiarities that are said to be of the Palatinate . One example of this is the song "Riesling-Schorle".
