House Thoire

  • 1394–1400: Humbert VII of Thoire and Villars († 1400), son of Humbert VI., Lord of Thoire and Villars, and Maria von Geneva, daughter of Amadeus III.
  • 1400–1401: Odo von Thoire and Villars

In 1401 Odo sold the county of Geneva to Amadeus VIII of Savoy , but his heirs refused to let him own the county. In 1424, after 23 years of fighting and trials, Amadeus VIII bought the pretenders their rights to the county.

House of Savoy

From 1424 the county of Geneva belonged to Savoy with the exception of the times when it was given to younger members of the family as an appanage .

The county of Geneva was finally united with the Duchy of Savoy.
