history

It was at this point before a weir and a floodgate that as Day's Weir , East Weir , New Lock Weir or Lower Hart's Weir was known.

The Thames Conservancy removed the weir in 1869. The first plans for a lock were made in 1892.

The river above the lock

Upstream of the lock, the Eaton Footbridge crosses the river. At this point there are jetties, which testify that there was a weir and a lock called Hart's Weir at this point until 1936 .

The Thames Path runs on the north side of the river to Buscot Lock .
