Graham Rust (* 1942 in Hertfordshire , England ) is an internationally known artist and mural painter.

Life

Graham Rust studied drawing and painting at the Polytechnic School of Art, the Central School of Arts and Crafts in London and Woodbury School in Virginia, USA. After working for the "Architectural Forum" of the Times Inc. for two years, he devoted himself to art as a freelancer, particularly as a muralist and trompe l'oeil artist. In the next decades he executed numerous wall and ceiling paintings internationally.

Graham Rust lives and works in Suffolk, England .

Graham Rust's most famous work is his mural "The Temptation" in the entrance hall of Ragley Hall near Alcester in Warwickshire . Commissioned by the owner of the castle, the 8th Marquess of Hertford , he worked 14 years, from 1969 to 1983, on this work, which among other things also included numerous members of the family of the Marquis and the Marquess of Hertford on a gallery in one shows illusionistically painted portico.

In addition to his artistic work, he also emerged as an author and wrote several books, including "The Painted House", which has been translated into several languages ​​and shows possible wall paintings and designs for the individual rooms using the example of an imaginary villa. Originally created murals by Rust are partially shown in these rooms. Graham Rust was also a successful illustrator.

On his travels to different continents he made views and paintings of the landscapes there, which he exhibited in the London Hazlitt Gallery, the Spink & Son Gallery and the Colnaghi Gallery. His works have so far been shown in 24 solo exhibitions.
