Gran Premio Latinoamericano

The Gran Premio Latinoamericano (formerly Gran Premio Asociación Latinoamericana de Jockey Clubes e Hipódromos , currently called Longines Gran Premio Latinoamericano ) is a thoroughbred race on South American racetracks.

The Gran Premio Latinoamericano is a Group I race . It has been held since 1981 and is for three-year-old and older thoroughbreds. The distance is 2000 m, but in 2012 they ran over 2100 m. The ground depends on which track the race is being run on. The prize money is $ 500,000.

OSAF

The Gran Premio Latinoamericano is the most important race of the OSAF - South American Organization for the Promotion of the Thoruoughbred . OSAF represents the interests and currently unites 33 jockey clubs and breeding associations from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Equador, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela.

Panama was last admitted to OSAF in 2009 and Mexico in 2011, so that OSAF races can now be held on their racetracks for the next few years.
