The Grand Griffon Vendéen is one of the FCI ( No. 282, Gr. 6, Sec. 1 ) recognized dog breed from France.
Origin and history
Very old French breed of hounds . Over the course of the twentieth century, three other, smaller varieties were bred: Briquet Griffon Vendéen , Grand Basset Griffon Vendéen and the Petit Basset Griffon Vendéen .
description
With up to 68 cm the largest of the Griffon Vendéen hounds, with not excessively long, sometimes bushy and coarse hair with ample undercoat. The colors of the dogs are black with white spotting; black with fawn markings; black with sand-colored markings; fawn with white spotting; fawn with a black coat and white spotting (tricolor); fawn with black clouds; sand-colored black overcast with white spotting; sand-colored black clouds. The ears are set below the line of the eyes, soft, narrow and thin, with long hair. The tail is set on thick and high and is carried in the shape of a saber.
