The Briquet Griffon Vendéen is one of the FCI ( No. 19, Gr. 6 Sec. 1.2 ) recognized dog breed from France .

Origin and history

The term briquet in French refers to a medium-sized dog, the Vendéen to the origin from the Vendée department . Before the First World War it was bred out of the Grand Griffon Vendéen . As a result of the two wars that followed, the breed became highly selective. From 1946 things went up again, today the briquets are quite numerous again.

description

The briquet is up to 55 cm tall in the colors black with white spotting; black with fawn markings; black with sand-colored markings; fawn with white spotting; fawn with a black coat and white spotting (tricolor); fawn with black clouds; sand-colored black overcast with white spotting; sand-colored black clouds. The dog's coat is not excessively long, sometimes shaggy and rough to the touch. The hangings are set below the line of the eyes, soft, narrow and thin; trimmed with long hair and tapering to a point; turned inwards. The tail is set high, dense at the base and is carried in the shape of a saber.
