Granite Spur ( granite spur ) is a mountain ridge or rock spur in the West Antarctic Ellsworthland . It rises 800 m west of Avalanche Ridge on the northern flank of the Jones Mountains .
Participants in one of the University of Minnesota expedition to the Jones Mountains from 1960 to 1961 made the name. It is named after the granite rock of the basement that emerges here.
