In 1115 AD, Wanyan Aguda , the chief of the Wanyan clan, founded the Jin dynasty . Before his death in 1123, he destroyed the Liao dynasty. Two years later, his brother Wanyan Wuqimai invaded the Song Dynasty area and conquered northern China in the Jin Song Wars . After that, the Jurchen assimilated with the Han Chinese . Among other things, they changed the Han Chinese family name "Wanyan" to " Wang ".

End of the dynasty

The Jurchen Jin dynasty was destroyed in 1234 by an allied Mongol and Han Chinese armies led by the forces of the Southern Song Dynasty. After the victory, both Mongols and Chinese declared that people with the family name "Wanyan" would be considered members of the royal lineage of the Jin Dynasty and should therefore be executed. As a result, many people named "Wanyan" changed their names or fled to remote areas.
