Grant Clitsome (born April 14, 1985 in Gloucester , Ontario ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player . The defender completed 205 games for the Columbus Blue Jackets and the Winnipeg Jets in the National Hockey League .
Career
Grant Clitsome was selected as a junior player in the NHL Entry Draft 2004 in the ninth round as a total of 271st player of the Columbus Blue Jackets . He then attended Clarkson University for four years , for whose ice hockey team he played parallel in the National Collegiate Athletic Association . In 2007 he won the ECAC Hockey championship with his team . A year later he was elected to the first All-Star Team of the ECAC Hockey and the second All-American Team of the Eastern Conference of the NCAA. Towards the end of the 2007-08 season , the defender made his professional ice hockey debut when he was on the ice for Columbus' then farm team Syracuse Crunch in a game in the American Hockey League . In the following two years he played predominantly for Syracuse in the AHL, where he was in the 2009/10 season in parallel in eleven games for Columbus in the National Hockey League on the ice, scoring three points, including one goal.
In the 2010/11 season Clitsome ran parallel for Columbus in the NHL and their new farm team Springfield Falcons in the AHL. For the NHL team of the Blue Jackets he scored four goals and 15 assists in 31 games. On February 27, 2012, the Winnipeg Jets selected the player on the waiver list and secured his services.
During the 2014-15 season, Clitsome suffered a back injury that was treated with surgery in January 2015. As a result, the defender dropped out for the rest of the season and the entire following season and then announced the end of his playing career in June 2016.
