The Grautskåla ( Norwegian for porridge bowl ) is a basin in the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . In the Alexander von Humboldt Mountains it is north of the Altar mountain .
It was discovered and mapped using aerial photographs during the German Antarctic Expedition in 1938/39 under the direction of polar explorer Alfred Ritscher . A new mapping and the naming were made by participants of the Third Norwegian Antarctic Expedition (1956–1960).
