The Great White Throne is a mountain in Zion National Park in the southwestern US state of Utah . It is a 2063 m high, light rock tower made of Navajo sandstone in Zion Canyon , which often serves as a symbol for the national park and is the most famous mountain in the canyon next to the immediately neighboring Angels Landing .

The mountain is visible from many points in the park due to its height. Many park visitors prefer the shuttle bus that stops at the designated viewpoints. The best view of the Great White Throne, however, is from the summit of Angel's Landing, which can be reached via a well-developed but strenuous hiking trail. Although there are no developed trails up the Great White Throne, the rock is very popular with mountaineers. Some routes to the summit are usually closed, so anyone interested should inquire at the Zion Ranger station beforehand. A bivouac permit is required to stay overnight on the mountain.

The name Great White Throne comes from the Methodist pastor Frederick Fisher from Ogden , Utah, from whom the names for Angels Landing and the Three Patriarchs come. Fisher was so impressed by the rock in 1916 that he compared it to God's throne .
