Green Bay is the name given to the strait between the Caribbean island of Antigua and its eastern side island, Green Island .
Green Bay stretches between the southeastern peninsula of Antigua and the south coast of Green Island, southwards approximately to the Cape Neck of Land and the York Bank , one kilometer away , from where the open Atlantic begins.
The strait is named as the 'bay' because Green Island is only 350 meters offshore from Cape Conk Point , and it therefore looks like a closed bay. Nevertheless, Green Bay is the southern passage into Nonsuch Bay , which is otherwise sealed off from the sea by a poorly navigable reef. Between the Neck of Land and the western southern tip of Green Island, the width is only about 600 meters, then the indentation opens again to about a kilometer before the passage into Nonsuch Bay begins.
On the shores of Green Bay are the holiday home and tourism locations around Mill Reef of St. Phillip's Parish , with the bays Devils Hole (Green Bay Beach) and Rickets Bay . Green Island is private and uninhabited, and also has beautiful beaches.
Green Bay has been part of the North East Marine Management Area ( NEMMA , 78 km²) since 2006 , a rather unspecific protected area of the island area off the northeast and east coast.
