It includes the partly nameless locations between the outer south coast of Nonsuch Bay (around Grassfield Cove , Hungry Hill / Cork Point ), on Green Bay ( Ricketts Bay , Devils Cove , Little Deep Bay , Neck of Land , Great Deep Bay , The Brook ) via Watsons , Friars Head Bay and Friars Head to the south around theExchange Bay , Soldiers Point , Half Moon Bay , Hudson Point, and Mannings . History and infrastructure

The Nonsuch Bay is a good natural harbors of Antigua, albeit difficult to reach and shallow entrance, and Green Bay is one of two passages in the bay. A British position was built here on Hungry Hill early on, Fort Harman , which has now completely disappeared. Otherwise there were only a few smaller farms here - around 1770 the area is managed as Ten Acres Lands , state property that was parceled out for small farms - and a fishing settlement on Half Moon Bay.

In 1947 the Mill Reef Club was founded here, an exclusive vacation rental and yacht club with 45 founding members. The club also owns Green Island and has had a golf course since 1952 . In the 1950s the Half Moon Bay Hotel was built, one of the first tourist hotels in Antigua. From 1971 investors expanded it into the Half Moon Bay Resort , also with a golf course, increased the hotel from 66 to 100 beds and provided land for holiday homes. Over the years numerous celebrities and wealthy foreigners settled here. Due to the isolated, “ghetto” -like location, the area hardly contributed to the economic development of the structurally weak southeast of the island, on the contrary, large areas of the southeast tip of the peninsula are not freely accessible.

In 1995, Hurricane Luis devastated this area in particular and destroyed the Half Moon Bay Resort. A reconstruction was prevented by the Antiguan government, which would have gladly awarded it to the investor R. Allen Stanford - who had meanwhile been convicted of fraud in the USA - and the area was expropriated in June 2007. A final clarification of the ownership and the future of the complex has not yet been made, the hotel complex has largely fallen into disrepair. The beach is a seldom visited destination for locals and day trippers.
