Alytus Forest District
The head forester's office Alytus (lit. Alytaus miškų urėdija ) is a head forester's office in the Lithuanian Rajongemeinde Alytus . The forest area covers 32 100 hectares; of which the state forests make up 16,661 hectares, other areas are privately owned .
The Dzūkija National Park , the Meteliai Regional Park , a Biosphere Reserve ( Žuvintas ) in the west, the Memel Loop Regional Park in the north and the Aukštadvaris Regional Park in the east are located in the territory of the Forestry Office . The tallest pines in Lithuania can be found in the Punia pine forest . Some oaks are a little over 400 years old. Under the direction of the head forester from Alytus , Vytautas Zelenius, 56 employees work in five foresters . The animal world in the forests includes 42 fallow deer (including 11 males), 107 red deer (including 20 males), 31 roe deer (including 9 males) and 73 wild boars .
history
In 1919, the Alytus Forest District was founded with four forest districts (Nemunaitis, Alytus, Seirijai , Kalniškiai) with 15,131 ha of forest. From 1926 to 1927, courses were organized for foresters. 1927 were higher forestry school Alytus on the initiative of Professor Antanas Rukuiža , the formation Oberförsterei Alytus and Forstbaumschule founded. In 1934 the forest school was separated from the educational forest enterprise. In 1945 the chief forestry officers Alytus, Dzūkai, partly Varėna (Daugai) were integrated and the forest industrial enterprise Alytus ( Alytaus miško pramonės ūkis ) was founded under the direction of B. Misiūnas and H. Petrauskas. The company was part of the forest industry - Třešť in Kaunas . In 1947 the Alytus forestry enterprise ( Alytaus miškų ūkis ) was founded with 57,000 hectares of forest area. In 1959 there were 12 foresters. The Punia Forest Museum has existed since 1979 . In 1991 the forestry business became a chief forestry officer.
