Green Hornet

Green Hornet (German: green hornet ) is the fictional hero of various comics , radio, television series and films.

history

The character originally comes from a radio series on the station WXYZ by George W. Trendle and Fran Striker . This series reached great popularity in the 1930s in the US, which meant that in the 1940s, two serial were produced. From 1940 to 1993 comic books with the green hornet were also produced. The television series The Green Hornet (German title: Die Grüne Hornisse ) is known in the German-speaking world and was produced between 1966 and 1967 (premiere: September 9, 1966; 26 episodes on ABC). Eight episodes were processed into two feature films and released in German cinemas under the titles The Secret of the Green Hornet (episodes 10, 11, 24, 25) and The Yellow Taifun (episodes 9, 13, 19, 21).

The well-traveled newspaper publisher Britt Reid, disguised in green clothes and a mask, fights the crime as a green hornet together with his chauffeur and assistant Kato. Apart from Kato, only District Attorney Scanlon knows the true identity of the Green Hornet; the police consider him a criminal, so that Reid and Kato always have to withdraw quickly from the scene in order not to be arrested and exposed.

Movie

In 2009, Michel Gondry took on the direction of a new film adaptation. The film, in which Seth Rogen and Christoph Waltz play among others , was largely shot in 2009 and was released in Germany on January 13, 2011 in both a 2D and a 3D version.

reception

Inspired by the character of Kato, the servant and "combat training partner" Cato ( Burt Kwouk ) of Inspector Clouseau, who appears in the Pink Panther series, appears for the first time in A Shot in the Dark (1964).
