Greg Iles (* 1960 in Stuttgart ) is an American writer .

Life

Greg Iles was born in 1960 in Stuttgart, where his father ran the clinic at the American embassy. When he was four years old, the family moved to Natchez , Mississippi .

After Iles graduated from the University of Mississippi in 1983 , he was guitarist and singer with the Frankly Scarlet Band . In 1989 he gave up music and devoted himself to writing. His debut novel Spandau Phoenix was published in 1993.

He has since published several bestsellers in various genres, which have been published in dozens of languages ​​and more than 20 countries. Many of his novels are about the main character Penn Cage and are set in the southern United States . Despite changing main characters and narrative forms (first person, third person), the same supporting roles appear repeatedly in the storylines.

The novel 24 Hours was filmed in 2002 under the name Trapped with Charlize Theron and Kevin Bacon . Greg Iles also wrote the script for this.

In 2011, Iles suffered life-threatening injuries as a result of a car accident that caused him to lose part of his right leg. During his recovery, Iles wrote three more novels from his Penn Cage series, which are set again in Natchez , Mississippi , Iles' homeland.

In his free time he is engaged in music. Iles is a member of the band Rock Bottom Remainders , whose members are exclusively writers, journalists and screenwriters.

Greg Iles lives in Natchez, Mississippi with his wife and two children.
