Rock Bottom Remainders

The Rock Bottom Remainders is a band from the USA which, according to their own statement, was founded "sometime at the end of the last century " by Kathi Kamen Goldmark . The band consists exclusively of famous writers , journalists and screenwriters who come together to form a band a few times a year.

history

The band made their first appearance in 1992 at the American Booksellers Association Convention in Anaheim . Further appearances followed, u. a. in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame , and duets with international stars such as B. Bruce Springsteen . The "Remainders" have no record deal and no releases, but they are still one of the most popular amateur bands in the world.

Members

Matt Groening
Made famous by his cartoon series " The Simpsons ", Matt Groening is one of the best-known members of the "Remainders". In the band he is mainly responsible for the background vocals .
Stephen King
He is probably the best known and most successful member of the "Remainders" and author of bestsellers such as "The Green Mile" or "The Dark Tower". He plays the electric guitar and is one of the front men.
Kathi Kamen Goldmark
Kathi Kamen Goldmark is a less well-known writer in Germany. She wrote u. a. And My Shoes Keep Walking Back to You. She also plays guitar and sings in the band.
Mitch Albom
Mitch Albom is a well-known journalist, radio and sports commentator in the USA. He writes for the Detroit Free Press and works for ABC Radio . At the "Rock Bottom Remainders" he stands at the keyboard and sings.
Dave Barry
Dave Barry writes columns for The Miami Herald . His humorous articles appear in over 500 newspapers in the United States. The Pulitzer Prize winner does the same job as Stephen King and Kathi Kamen Goldmark: guitar and vocals.
Amy Tan
The author of "Daughters of Heaven", "The Spirit of Madame Chen" and her best-known book "The Joy Luck Club" is, as it says on the band's homepage, the "Rhythmusdomina" ("Rhythm Dominatrix") ) the band. She plays various percussion instruments and sings in the background.
Ridley Pearson

Surname

The name is a self-deprecating description of the band. It is made up of 'rock bottom' - which freely translated means something like: at the bottom or low point - and 'remainder', which is a technical term from the publishing industry and describes the non-sold edition of a book that is sold at a low price , roughly corresponding to the German " Ladenhüter ".
