Greg Jamison

Greg Jamison (born 1951 in the USA ) is an American businessman. Since 2001 he is the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the San Jose Sharks , a Hockey - franchise of the National Hockey League . He is also the manager of San Jose Sports & Entertainment Enterprises .

Career

Jamison, who has a bachelor's degree in education from Northwest Nazarene College and a master's degree in administration from Colorado State University , initially worked from 1977 to 1980 as the marketing director of the Christian amateur athlete organization Athletes in Action . He then took a job with the Dallas Mavericks' NBA franchise . There he worked from 1980 to 1987 as director of the marketing department and was instrumental in the positive development of the then young franchise.

In 1987 he joined the Indiana Pacers where he served as Vice President of Corporate Operations until 1993. Jamison led the team among the top clubs in the league in the merchandising , ticket sales and sponsorship money categories during his tenure .

After his time with the Pacers, the American changed the sport and took a position in the business department of the San Jose Sharks , an ice hockey team. He served as Vice President until 1996 when the then team owners, George and Gordon Gund , made him president. When the brothers sold the franchise in 2001, Jamison stayed in office and has been the manager of the new owner, San Jose Sports & Entertainment Enterprises , ever since . During his tenure, Jamison shaped the 1990 franchise into one of the most respected and successful teams in the NHL.
