Gregor Magnificent

Gregor Prächt (* 1968 in Nuremberg ) is a German-American opera singer (tenor) and composer.

Life

The German tenor Gregor Prächt was born as the son of a lawyer and great-grandson of an opera singer. He is also a composer, lyricist and producer. His music education began at the age of 3 from his great-grandmother, the opera singer Lise Walz. He made his first public appearance at the age of 11 as “Child of the People” at the Nuremberg Christmas Market , and a year later his first solo part in a children's opera at the opera house. Gregor Prächt sang in the United States Army Gospel Choir at the age of 15. Had his own band until high school.

His main teachers are Miguel Baraldes and Carlo Bergonzi , the great tenor (and main singing partner of Maria Callas ), from whom he received his diploma. Gregor Prächt was the youngest tenor at the Salzburg Festival at the age of 15 and the first artist at the age of 19 to produce crossover for the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra and sang with these established orchestras at the same time as Peter Hofmann's crossover CDs. At the age of 21 he toured the USA, at the age of 25 sang in all major European cities, in Austria (for ORF), Italy and also in Scandinavian countries. He had his first concert in Hawaii (where the Maui Arts and Cultural Center was built for him) in 1992. He produced and sang in duets with u. a. Al Jarreau , Toni Childs , Klaus Meine (Scorpions), Henry Kapono and in collaboration with the Dresden Philharmonic, the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra and David Benoit . He was also responsible as a producer and composer for the debut album by DSDS star Judith Lefeber (Warner Music).

In his private life he worked with Katharina Witt and later with Jeanette Hain.

He also sings and composes children's songs and is particularly committed to music therapy worldwide. He also composes advertising music for corporations such as Lindt, Nestlé, Microsoft and Coca-Cola and is involved in charity events.
