Gregor Schmitt

Gregor Schmitt (born March 12, 1832 in Riedenheim , † 1908 in Würzburg ) was a German medic.

Life

Gregor Schmitt studied medicine at the Universities of Würzburg, Prague and Vienna. In Würzburg he became a member of the Corps Moenania in 1851 . In 1854 he worked as a cholera doctor in Augsburg. In 1856 he was promoted to Dr. med. PhD. For several years he was assistant to Friedrich Wilhelm von Scanzoni in Würzburg . In 1858 he settled down as a country doctor and was also a district doctor in Gerolzhofen and Würzburg. In 1883 he was appointed to the royal government and district medical council in Würzburg. Most recently until his retirement he was senior medical advisor.

In 1892 Schmitt was made honorary citizen of the city of Volkach for his services to the city .
