Greizer autumn theater
The Greiz Theaterherbst is a week-long sociocultural theater festival in Greiz in East Thuringia and the surrounding area. It has been organized every September since 1992 by the “Greizer Theaterherbst eV” association. A special feature of the festival is the mixture of in-house productions from amateur workshops and guest performances by professional productions.
concept
Amateur workshops
In the summer months, the up to twelve amateur workshops of the theater autumn start their work. Under the guidance of professional artists, interested amateurs work on various art projects that will be presented during the festival week. These workshops include:
- Acting workshops for adults, teenagers and children
- Movement and dance theater workshops
- Design or art workshops
- Musical workshops
- Media and press workshops
Guest performances
Guest performances by professional stage ensembles and music groups, from other amateur theater projects and drama schools are also held during the festival week. The guest performances come mainly from the German-speaking cultural area, but also from other regions of Europe and the world. In 2011 all state theaters in Thuringia will be guests with performances for the autumn theater for the first time.
Venues
Another special feature of the autumn theater is the variety of venues in the city of Greiz. The theater of the city of Greiz , in which the Theaterherbst Association had its seat, was used until the house was closed . The successor building, the Vogtlandhalle Greiz , will be used for the first time in the autumn of 2011 and also offers space for the association's work.
Other core locations were the former Greika textile plants in Greizer Neustadt and Aubachtal, which have since been demolished , as well as other former industrial plants.
In addition to castles, churches and other sights of the city, events have already taken place in old commercial buildings, in the train station and in the river bed of the White Elster .
society
The Greizer Theaterherbst eV association has around 50 members. In addition to the festival, he organizes the international jazz festival " JazzWerk ", which has been held annually in Greiz since 2000.
