Jörg Steinberg

Jörg Steinberg (* 27. May 1963 in East Berlin ) is a German actor , theater director and playwright .

Life

Growing up in Wendenschloß , Jörg Steinberg trained as a skilled worker for communications technology from 1979 to 1982. After completing his military service, he began studying at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin in 1983 and, after graduating in 1987, went to the Anhalt Theater to Dessau. There he played until 1990, then he worked as a freelancer until 2011 and had guest contracts at numerous German theaters, such as the Berlin Kriminal Theater , the Hebbel Theater , the Stadttheater Konstanz , the Meininger Theater or the Württembergische Landesbühne Esslingen .

Steinberg has also directed since 1996, among others at the Staatstheater Cottbus , the Berliner Theater unterm Dach , the Volkstheater Rostock , the Shakespeare Company Bremen or the Kleist-Theater Frankfurt (Oder) . From 2011 to 2016 he was employed as in-house director at the New Theater Halle , since then he has been working freelance again.

Steinberg is also active as a playwright, often dealing with the topic of "football", as in the plays The Hand of God , Lothar rennt , Blutgrätsche or Hansi Kreische lives or as a fan of Union Berlin And never forget - Iron Union! , which he wrote in 2006 for the 40th anniversary of the club.

Steinberg has been in front of the camera since the late 1980s, often as a guest actor in various series such as Der Landarzt , For all cases Stefanie or In the Name of the Law .

In one episode of the series Löwenzahn , Jörg Steinberg played a football coach. He himself played active football for various clubs, including Aktivist Salzwedel and SSV Köpenick 08, until a cruciate ligament rupture put an end to his career in November 1995.
