It is the 343rd episode in the film series Polizeiruf 110 and the second case for Chief Inspector Doreen Brasch and Chief Inspector Jochen Drexler. The two deal with the murder in the tram, a traumatized ex-soldier and organized crime.

action

The 21-year-old Danilo Rink is found dead in a tram. Since he wasn't discovered until the next morning, he spent the night in the tram depot. Drexler seeks out the social worker Peter Ruhler, with whom he has worked previously. This was responsible for Rink. Ruhler claims to have celebrated the evening before and is in a corresponding state. Brasch, who had previously visited her adolescent son, who was incarcerated for right-wing extremist crimes, went to see Sandra, the dead man's wife and mother of their child. This indicates that the relationship between her and her boyfriend has been broken for a long time. The woman shows traces of abuse, and when Brasch asked whether this was from her husband, she replied evasively. She tells Brasch that Rink was out with two of his friends that evening. Ruhler comes to the presidium and says that Rink was on the right track, he was previously a petty criminal and was about to get out of the scene. Drexler and Brasch track down the friends of the perpetrator with whom Danilo had spent the evening he died. They initially state that Danilo Rink left the boathouse in which they spent the evening alone. One of them later admits that they both rode the tram with him at first, but both got off beforehand because Danilo intimidated a younger boy and stole his laptop. The 15-year-old boy, who was robbed by Danilo, visits the social worker Ruhler and asks him to help him. Ruhler says there is nothing he can do for him. In addition, one of the two young men claims that Ruhler was on the tram. Brasch suspects that Ruhler came to the boy's aid and killed Danilo Rink in the process.

The boy, Lukas Schenker, seeks out Ruhler, who tells him that he didn't believe that the two young men recognized him. Ruhler says that Rink is dead. Lukas wants to flee with Ruhler and asks him to help him. He blames Ruhler for leaving his laptop at the crime scene because of Ruhler. Drexler and Brasch arrive at Ruhler's apartment, but he actually fled with Lukas. Brasch creates the hypothesis that Ruhler took the boy home and hostage so that the boy would not betray him. Ruhler asks Lukas to call his sister and meet with Lukas and her clients. Meanwhile, Brasch and Drexler discover blood in Ruhler's apartment, which makes it likely that he fought and injured Rink. The identity of Lukas is finally clarified by a missing person report. Lukas takes Ruhler to a remote dacha, to which he and his sister occasionally withdraw.

Brasch seeks out the boy's father, who is well off and works for an auto supplier. He says he has no problems with the boy. He is divorced from the mother of his children and has custody. His daughter Ellen has moved from home and he is no longer in contact with her. She has a criminal record for assault. Ruhler was seen by neighbors together with Lukas that he had a blue garbage bag with him. Ruhler's and Lukas's fingerprints are found on Rink's corpse. Ruhler used to be in the German Armed Forces and was with KFOR in Kosovo, but left the service immediately after his return. Ruhler seeks out his sister and Lukas, Ellen, and his friend. Together with the three of them, he seeks out the young people's clients. He explains to them that Lukas was not to blame for the loss of the laptop, it was his fault. The gangsters want to kill Lukas, Ruhler intervenes and the young people can escape. Meanwhile, it turns out that the tram cleaner who found Rink's body stole the laptop. The laptop belonged to Lukas father, on which security codes for luxury cars were stored, so that expensive luxury cars can be stolen with the help of the laptop. Lukas stole the laptop from his father and wanted to sell it to the gangsters. Meanwhile, Ruhler alerts the police and states that Ellen was shot. This is in the hospital and is interrogated by Brasch there. She explains to Brasch that it was her idea to steal the laptop and sell the data to the gangsters. She declares that she is in debt. It also turns out that Ellen is pregnant. Drexler and Brasch go to see Ellen's and Lukas' father again. This says that Lukas has been interested in his mother lately and wanted to get to know her.

Ruhler meets with Ellen's friend, he informs him that Lukas is in the hands of the criminal, but that Ellen is fine. Ellen's friend has a gun which he hands over to Ruhler. Brasch locates Ellen's and Lukas' mother, she says that she would like to have contact with her children and that she is already in contact with Ellen, but that the father of the two did not want this. Drexler seeks out Ruhler's old comrade who was with him in Kosovo and is now paraplegic. Ruhler sat at the wheel of a Bundeswehr vehicle. When a truck came towards them on their own lane, Ruhler had to evade and the car fell down a slope. The comrade has been paralyzed since then. An eight-year-old boy was also killed in the accident. This event was the reason why Ruhler quit his job. Drexler and Brasch find Ellen's mother's friend following a tip. This reveals to Brasch that the gangsters control Lukas and where they are. The gangsters mistreat Lukas so that he can get the laptop back. But this one doesn't know anything. Ruhler appears, shoots one of the gangsters and is able to free Lukas. Drexler and Brasch arrive too late, but can arrest the gangsters.

Ruhler and Lukas hide in the dacha for a while. When Drexler and Brasch find out from Ellen where the dacha is, the two have disappeared. However, the two find the blue garbage bag with the blood-smeared clothes of Lukas and Ruhler from the evening of the crime. Ruhler's ex-girlfriend reports to Drexler and testifies that she broke up with him the evening before the crime, which could be partly responsible for his overreaction. Ruhler and Lukas look for Lukas father and threaten him so that he can give out Lukas mother's address. Ruhler takes the boy to the bus. Shortly afterwards he is asked by Drexler and Brasch. After trying unsuccessfully to provoke a “ suicide by cop ” and confessing the manslaughter to Rink, he shoots himself in front of the police.

Reviews

“Tristesse, from start to finish. And that doesn't just refer to the content. The film lacks its own charm, because the MDR not only focused on topics that have all been there before, but also on a well-known constellation of commissioners. "
