occupation

Thin ice is a TV film from the ARD crime series Polizeiruf 110 . The film was produced on behalf of the MDR and aired for the first time on Sunday, February 12, 2017 on Das Erste . It is the seventh case for Magdeburg investigator Doreen Brasch and the second case with her new partner Dirk Köhler .

action

The 23-year-old boutique saleswoman Kim Peelitz is kidnapped on her way to work. The kidnappers' claim to Kim's mother Anja, a geriatric nurse, amounts to 100,000 euros. Despite the request not to use the police, Anja turns to her. She tries to raise the money in good time, but shortly beforehand the investigators learn from Anja that she is actually in possession of 100,000 euros through an inheritance. She collects the money from the bank alone. But the transfer of money fails because two uninformed police officers happen to be taking a break nearby, which makes the kidnappers suspicious. Anja then receives a chopped off finger from her daughter. Although Anja initially asserted that she hadn't told anyone about the inheritance, the investigators found out that she had actually told everyone she knew and work colleagues about it.

The stepfather Jost Liebig, who is separated from his mother, and Michelle, the best friend of the kidnapped, are suspected. Shortly before the second attempt to hand over the money, in which the kidnappers are now demanding 200,000 euros, the body of a young woman is found near the place agreed for the handover. To everyone's surprise, the dead woman is not the kidnapped Kim, but Michelle.

It turns out that Kim's birth father did not die as Anja claimed, and investigators note that there is no money in the pocket that was intended for the handover. The inheritance over 100,000 euros never existed. Anja suffers from a pathological urge to twist reality and tell people untruths.

Jost Liebig, who had had a phone call with Michelle shortly before Michelle's death, is arrested and released in the hope that he will lead investigators to the current whereabouts of the kidnapped Kim. This works. It's an old boat, and when they get there, Kim runs away.

As it turns out later, Kim, together with Jost Liebig and her friend, only faked the kidnapping in order to get the supposedly inherited money from her mother, with whom she could no longer endure living together due to the many lies. When Michelle tried to get out, Kim killed her in an argument.

Reviews

“At the moment there is quite a lot of talk about lies, and even if this 'police call' from Magdeburg absolutely does not get into the political context, it fits in well with the time. Because he tells in detail about the fatal consequences of notorious lying. "

"'Thin Ice' is a solidly made crime thriller, which is a big compliment these days."

“We would like to write at this point that this crime thriller from Magdeburg shows how cumbersome and stressful police work can be. Unfortunately, it only shows how a simple story can be told in a cumbersome and stressful way. Three scriptwriters were involved in the plot ( Stefan Rogall , Eoin Moore, Anika Wangard), the result is a narrative chaos of digression and abstrusiveness. "

"The story of Eoin Moore and Anika Wangard based on a presentation by Stefan Rogall is particularly impressive because of the constant change of suspects."

“Nothing is what it seems. That is a basic assumption that should actually be the basis of every crime thriller, but this Magdeburg police call declines it consistently. He does this on the dramaturgical and content level. "

“The investigators work their way through a finely woven web of lies, psychopathic compulsions and emotional dependencies. Experienced crime thrillers may find their suspicions confirmed in the end, but here the thrilling journey is the goal. "

"Nevertheless, looking back, the relatively conventionally staged story is exciting because the mother, played with incredible intensity by Christine Große, is finally taken out of her illusory world."

"In the first: Strongest« police call 110 »in over a year."
