Crash is a TV film from the ARD crime series Polizeiruf 110 . The film was produced by the MDR and was broadcast for the first time on Sunday, September 23, 2018 on Das Erste . It is the ninth case for Magdeburg investigator Doreen Brasch and the fourth case with her partner Dirk Köhler .

action

The Magdeburg commissioners Brasch and Köhler are investigating the case of the young Sarah Wagner, who was run over at night and fatally injured. The driver hit the road. Various signs point to an illegal car race in which the person who caused the accident was involved. The victim had headphones on and apparently did not hear the car rushing towards it. In order to get to the frenzy scene, Inspector Brasch “rattles” the car workshops that she knows about. Here she hopes to get information about customers with tuned cars. It works. To transfer the speeders involved, Brasch can persuade her boss to get her a suitably powerful car. So she can identify some candidates and pin them down with video evidence. Among them is Axel Zerbe, who has just registered a new car. Commissioner Köhler has his old car shown, although it does not show any signs of an accident. Other candidates are Henry Müller, Thore Reinhardt and René Helms, who everyone just calls "Renate".

Brasch and Köhler also deal with the accident victim. It is not entirely clear to them why the young woman was out with a bottle of champagne in the middle of the night, although, as it turns out after the autopsy, she was pregnant. The search for the possible father leads to Tommy Otto, a parcel delivery man who is occasionally active in the raving scene. From him Köhler learns that Sarah recently switched from him to Henry Müller, a very rich but psychologically problematic young man. The commissioners suspect the perpetrator among these two, as well as Sarah's father, who is secretly trying to take the justice and punishment of his daughter's murder into his own hands. He borrows a car and drives at high speed towards Tommy Otto as he is about to be released from custody. Otto does not survive and Klaus Wagner is arrested.

The investigators received a reference to Henry Müller when they learned that Müller had bought a grave for them one day before the name of the accident victim was published. When asked about this, Müller admits that he made an appointment with Sarah after the race. Sarah should wait for him on a corner so that they can "drive to the finish" together. Little did he know that she suddenly crossed the street.

Reviews

Rainer Tittelbach from tittelbach.tv said about this episode: “'Crash' [...] deals with a case that is not typical for a homicide squad, but which is very well suited for a crime thriller with a distinct drama color. [...] The investigators finally come together, which means that Michelsen and Matschke's potential is less wasted than before. […] Dramaturgically, the film takes an unusual path that works surprisingly well. Well written, staged, played, the dialogues crisp: well-rounded. "

Stern.de wrote: “This Sunday thriller seems quite long.” “Uncool” would also be “some dialogues, some of which could also be spoken in a Rosamunde Pilcher film.” “The gags - if they are supposed to be - are also rather flat. ”“ The end of the crime thriller is [however] really worth seeing - first shocking, then touching. ”

Christian Buß from Spiegel Online said: “' The Fast and the Furios ' meets ' Knight of the Coconut ', that sounds like a wild mess for a public television crime thriller. But with the predominantly well-balanced mixture of joke and anger, speed and serenity, those responsible manage to avoid clichés about boys, intoxication and crazy horsepower. "

At the Westfälische Rundschau , Frank Preuss said: “The film quickly runs out of breath, it bobs around in the midst of fast cars. This is also due to the fact that the dog-cat constellation between Matthias Matschke and Claudia Michelsen no longer works in spite of both acting qualities: The sharpness is out, they look dull. "Conclusion:" A strong topic that you have to do more with. So it remains television average. Considered benevolently. "
