Rudolphstein / Hirschberg border crossing
The border crossing Rudolphstein / Hirschberg was one of the few for motor vehicles passable border crossings at the Inner German border between the GDR and the Federal Republic of Germany . It was on the Autobahn 9 between the communities of Rudolphstein ( Upper Franconia / Bavaria ) and Hirschberg ( Gera district , now Thuringia ). It was put into operation in December 1966 after the restoration of the Rudolphstein bridge, which had been destroyed in 1945 .
