Grete Jost Park
The Grete-Jost-Park is a park in the 3rd district of Vienna, Landstrasse . It is located behind the headquarters of the Austrian Post " Post am Rochus " between Erdbergstrasse and Rasumofskygasse . Due to the construction of the new post office, the park was closed until 2017. It has an area of 1,500 m².
history
The Grete-Jost-Park was rebuilt in the course of the underground construction in the 1990s. The garden architect was the Viennese garden planner Cordula Loidl-Reisch .
In the course of the demolition of the adjoining post office building, late Celtic and early Roman artefacts were found in the park floor in 2015 , which are considered to be the oldest Roman finds in Vienna.
Surname
The park was named after the Austrian resistance fighter against National Socialism Grete Jost (1916–1943). She lived in the third district and was executed in Vienna during World War II . The nomination took place on October 10, 1997 in the municipal council committee for culture.
