The Greycliff Prairie Dog Town State Park , also Greycliff Prairie Dog Town State Monument, serves to protect a prairie dog city. The 40 hectare state park is located in Sweet Grass County in the US state of Montana near Big Timber between Bozeman and Billings . It can be reached via the I-90 Exit Greycliff , which also runs directly along the north-east side of the protected area.
The facility is limited to parking, picnic areas and information boards about the lifestyle and the importance of prairie dogs in the ecosystem prairie . From there, a colony of black-tailed prairie dogs can be observed, as described elsewhere by Lewis and Clark on their Lewis and Clark expedition in 1804 .
