The Griebsee is a body of water in Dranse , a district of the city of Wittstock / Dosse in the Ostprignitz-Ruppin district in the state of Brandenburg .
The water is located east of the city on the district of Dranse and there in turn east of the village center. Together with the small and large Baalsee , this is also the north-western edge of the Stechlin-Ruppiner Land nature reserve . To the north is the Walkmühle residential area, to the south the Griebsee residential area. The lake is fed from the south by the Upper Müritzsee , which is also the one outlet to the north. There is an artificially dammed lake that supplies the Wittstock fulling mill .
The lake is located in a wooded area and can be viewed from a hiking trail that runs east of the water in a north-south direction. Direct access is possible on the south bank. There is a therapeutic facility that can be reached via the Griebsee stop on line 746 of the Ostprignitz Ruppiner local transport company.
