Coordinates: 34 ° 17 ′ S , 146 ° 2 ′ E The City of Griffith is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of New South Wales . The area is 1,639.2 km² and has about 25,600 inhabitants.
Griffith is located in the south of the state in the Murrumbidgee region about 620 km west of the metropolis Sydney and 430 km northwest of the Australian capital Canberra . The area includes 39 hamlets and hamlets, including Beelbangera, Bilbul, Collina, North Griffith, Hanwood, Lake Wyangan, Mayfair, Murrumbidgee Estate, Pioneer, Tharbogang, Warburn, Warrawidgee, Widgelli, Yenda, Yoogali and parts of Benerembah, Darlington Point, Griffith , Tabbita, Willbriggie, Whitton and Yenda. The seat of the City Council is in Griffith in the center of the LGA, where about 18,900 inhabitants live.
