The bigeye sand tiger shark ( Odontaspis noronhai ) is an insufficiently known shark from the order of the mackerel shark-like (Lamniformes) and the family of sand sharks (Odontaspididae). The shark lives pelagically at depths between 600 and 1000 meters above continental slopes and shelf areas . So far it has been caught in the western Atlantic near Brazil , in the eastern Atlantic near Madeira and in the central Pacific near Hawaii . A possible occurrence in the Seychelles is uncertain.

Male bigeye sand tiger sharks reach a maximum length of 3.60 meters, female 3.26 meters. The average height is likely to be 2.5 to 3.0 meters. The body color is uniformly brown, the outer edges of the fins , with the exception of the pectoral fins , are dark. The snout is conical and long, the tip rounded, the mouth, which is set with medium-sized, three-pointed teeth, extends to behind the eyes. The eyes are strikingly large. You don't have a nictitating skin The first dorsal fin begins above the end of the pectoral fins, the second dorsal fin is opposite the pectoral fins . The caudal fin stalk is notched on the upper side just before the beginning of the caudal fin .
Way of life
Because the species lives in deep water, its way of life and diet are largely unknown. It is likely to multiply ovoviviparously .
