Darío Cvitanich (born May 16, 1984 in Baradero , Buenos Aires Province , Argentina , Croatian spelling of the family name: Cvitanić ) is an Argentine football player .

Career

society

Beginnings (until 2008)

Cvitanich played for Banfield since 2003 . He was 18 years old when he made his debut on October 20, 2003. In 92 games he scored 37 goals, including a hat trick against the Newell's Old Boys . Cvitanich also played in the Copa Libertadores for Banfield in 2007 and proved to be a reliable team player for his club at the time during his early career.

Ajax Amsterdam and on loan in Latin America (2008-2012)

From the 2008/09 season, Cvitanich played for Ajax Amsterdam . On August 30, 2008, the striker made his debut in the Eredivisie . Cvitanich had to wait until December 12, 2008 for his first league goal. It was awarded from January 1, 2010 to December 31, 2010 to the Mexican club CF Pachuca . In the 2011/12 season he was loaned to Boca Juniors .

OGC Nice (2012-2015)

In early August 2012, he moved to the French first division club OGC Nice . After he had not been in the squad in the first three games, he made his debut in the 1-1 draw against Girondins Bordeaux in the starting line- up on September 2, 2012, the fourth matchday . On September 29, 2012, he scored his first goal for OGC Nice in a 2-2 draw against SC Bastia on the seventh matchday for a 1-0 lead. Cvitanich became a regular player and scored 19 goals, which he shared second place in the goalscorer list with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang . The club reached fourth place and was allowed to participate in qualifying for the Europa League . In the qualification, Nice failed to Apollon Limassol . In the league, Cvitanich came to 31 missions and eight goals.

CF Pachuca (since 2015)

In January 2015 he moved to CF Pachuca in Mexico .

National team

Since the ancestors of Argentine-born Darío Cvitanich come from Croatia, he took on Croatian citizenship and expressed his wish to play for the Croatian national team because "such an opportunity only comes once and you simply have to accept it". Cvitanich received his Croatian passport in August 2008. In January 2009 it was announced that he was not eligible to play for the Croatian national team under FIFA regulations.
