Large dolmen

The Großdolmen von Pöglitz in Gremersdorf-Buchholz near Grimmen , in the district of Western Pomerania-Rügen in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania - without Sprockhoff no. - belongs to a group of 5 mostly badly disturbed megalithic systems , west of the road L 22 between Rekentin and Pöglitz . The large stone grave was created between 3500 and 2800 BC. BC in the Neolithic as a megalithic system of the funnel beaker culture (TBK).

Ewald Schuldt dug up and reconstructed the complex, which had remained completely undiscovered . The Großdolmen lies transversely in an approximately 25.0 m long, north-south oriented, trapezoidal barn bed with a width of approximately 5.0 meters at the north and 9.0 meters at the south end. The border consisted of 41 stones of which 21 have been preserved. The large stones standing outside the giant bed in the extension of the long sides are guard stones , of which the complex had two on both narrow sides.

The rectangular, east-west oriented chamber, about 5.0 m long and 2.0 m wide, is about 1.8 m high. The end of the chamber is reconstructed from small stones, three supporting stones have been preserved on each of the long sides. The 1.2 m long coaxial access to the chamber, with smaller stones, forms a porch bordered by two threshold stones . One of the original three cap stones lies in the middle of the chamber.

At the south-eastern end of the megalithic bed there is a large broken stone with two rows of wedge holes. The attempt at splitting was given up. In terms of size, it could be a former capstone.
