The Große Eutiner See is a lake in Holstein Switzerland, northeast of the city of Eutin . It is 230 hectares in size, up to 17 m deep and is about 26.7 m above sea level. NN . The Seeschaarwald borders directly on the northern side . Its main tributary, the Schwentine , flows a little further west into the western part of the lake, the Fissau Bay , separated by the Bebensund Bridgeout again. For water hikers, the Schwentine is only navigable upstream to the Großer Eutiner See. The lake and the Fissau Bay are used by two water sports clubs.
There are two islands in the Great Eutin Lake : The Pheasant Island , on which the origins of the settlement of the area lie, which was a visual axis target of the former baroque gardens at the Eutin Castle and which is now inhabited again and privately owned, and the so-called Love Island.
In the summer, musical theater performances take place in the palace garden directly on the Great Eutin Lake .
