The Grand Prix of Spa 1961 , also Grand Prix de Spa, Circuit National de Spa-Francorchamps , took place on May 14, 1961 at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps . The race was not part of any racing series.

The race

At the Spa Grand Prix in 1961, the organizer applied the now unusual practice of having vehicles of different classes driven and scored separately. There were three races on May 14th. The race for GT cars up to 1.3 liter displacement was won by the Briton William Allen in a Lotus Elite . In GT sports cars up to the displacement limit of 2 liters, the German Fritz Hahnl remained successful in the Porsche 356B Carrera Abarth .

The race of the large GTs over 2 liter displacement lasted 15 laps and ended with the victory of Willy Mairesse in the works - Ferrari 250 GT SWB ahead of Mike Parkes in a Jaguar E-Type and Graham Whitehead , who also had a Ferrari 250 GT SWB drove.
